Online Learning Q & A
Do we have to actually meet with teammates or can we use apps to contact each other instead?
For the main actors team, can we just work individually rather than meeting together via Skype? I am pretty sure none of us had fully memorized their lines, and I think the priority is to memorize the lines first and then get together and start acting.
Can you be available for (our Skype meeting / online rehearsal / questions)?
Would emailing a teacher at this point be part of consulting because I can't think of other ways...
I didn't add my video / evidence to my survey, so can I just email it to you?
I made a video on my computer instead of using Loom or Soapbox. How do I include it in my survey?
I am not quite sure how to show that I am learning. Is turning on Soapbox and recording myself watching YouTube videos a way to show that? I am not 100 percent sure about how to demonstrate my learning.
The answer to this question applies to all teams, not just tech:
Are there any other things that I could learn and help our play besides learning how to use the tech tools well? Because at this point, I can't think of any.

Since we're in the middle of a life-or-death health crisis, please DON'T meet your teammates in person. You and your friends are safer if you just stay at home as much as possible right now. DO use apps to meet and get your work done.

It depends on what you, your team, and your director want to do. Some teams already found value in reading their lines together in Dalton Hall even though they hadn't memorized them yet.
I wouldn't expect you to wait and memorize everything perfectly before working together, but if you want to focus on memorization sometimes instead of working together every class day / rehearsal day, that's a legitimate choice.
Just make sure to do your surveys, include evidence, and keep your director informed.

I will definitely be available for any of your class times during the new distance learning schedule.
Outside of that, I'm happy to schedule times to be available for meeting, especially if your plans somewhat match the rehearsal schedule we already put together. Unlike a regular rehearsal situation, I won't be able to connect with two classes at once, but we can make plans to meet at different times in the same evening, if you want to connect after school hours.

First, directly communicating with an expert isn't an absolute requirement. Doing research using reliable sources is completely acceptable. But just like you can reach out to teachers (if their expertise is relevant), it's also possible to communicate with experts online if you have looked at resources they have offered and still have questions.
I've reached out to experts and authors and gotten responses sometimes. If you're going to do that, it's important to do your research first and be sure you're not asking them something they've answered online. And don't count on hearing back from any expert you try to contact.
To be very clear, the emphasis is not on whether you communicated with an expert -- that's just one way of learning. The emphasis is on you doing what it takes to learn things that will help in the play and can potentially be useful in your life after the play.

All evidence should be in surveys because that's where I'm going to look when I'm grading. If you didn't put it in a survey, do another survey and add it there so I'll see it when I'm grading.

Upload it to your play prep folder (the one I shared with you), and then get a link for it. Put that link in the survey.

This is a great question :)
If you think about it, you know what it looks like when someone is really focused and learning, and you just need to make sure I see that. To illustrate, I'll show you two videos.

- In one, it really looks like learning is happening.
- In the other I CAN'T TELL. If I can't tell that learning is happening, I won't assume that it is.

Somebody who may or may not be learning. I can't tell:
Taking notes is not the ONLY way to show that you are learning. For example, if you are learning a skill, you can actually PRACTICE the skill and show improvement. If you are still unsure how to show your learning after this, then ask for more guidance.
